Hot Dog Research for My PhD.(Pro hot Dogger)!
New Jersey is known as the Hot Dog Capital of America. Chicago has great dogs, California has their share as well, but New Jersey is Top Dog. The list of famous Hot Dog joints is long and storied.
Having grown up in North Jersey I’ve had decades of full scale research of Texas Weiners, NYC Dirty Water Dogs, and grilled champs like the Hot Grill, Rutt’s Hut, Galloping Hill, Windmill, Jimmy Buff’s, Tommy’s, and Max’s. Different style dogs require their own way of preparation and presentation. You can see these famous institutions in our Gallery pics below. I HIGHLY recommend visiting the remaining legends if you get a chance. The atmosphere of these places is an experience in itself! The Davy Dogs Facebook page has videos of several of these Hot Dog immortals.
SO… why the intense interest in Hot Dog History? I don’t know, but america eats 9 Billion dogs a year. With THAT in mind and a change in Latitude, it was time to use all the lessons learned!
I am bringing a familiar Dog down to Myrtle Beach. The many Northeast transplants will instantly recognize the Sabrett logo and unique taste. Those trying for the first time will experience the taste that became the standard up north.
It’s a revolution and you can help be part of it! Davy Dogs is a Sabrett dog with my own version of toppings.
- Davy Chili – no beans here..this is the Jersey Style chili sauce
- Davy Kraut – sauerkraut redone with special seasoning
- Davy Onions – sweet Vidalia onions cooked with Sriracha & Heinz – Kickin’!
- Sabrett Onions – The famous BBQ style onions sauce
- Rutt’s Style Relish – Sweet yellow relish topping many call corn relish (no corn in there)
- Davy Salads – Macaroni (Big Stash style), Davy Slaw
- Sweet Relish, Hot Relish, Ketchup (under 15 only…please), Cheese, Salsa, raw onions, Jalapenos.
- Dessert – Vena’s Deli Rice Pudding
Of course there are many ways to dress a dog, try something new! Welcome to Davy Dogs – Myrtle Beach.
